A cultural dialogue that continues
M K. Čiurlionis Art Album Strengthens Cultural Connections
In the space of the Yaroslav the Wise National Library of Ukraine, an event took place that combined cultural diplomacy, the power of historical memory and the value of open knowledge. Within the framework of the XVI Scientific and Practical Conference with international participation "Library and Book in the Context of Time", the art album "Mikalojus Konstantinas Čiurlionis. Painting" is a publication dedicated to one of the most profound artists of European culture.
The presentation was made by the Cultural Attaché of the Embassy of Lithuania in Ukraine Tomas Ivanauskas, emphasizing the special importance of cultural cooperation between Ukraine and Lithuania at a time when art is becoming a language of mutual understanding, support and spiritual resilience.
Art as a space of unity
The appearance of this publication in the Ukrainian library environment has a significance that goes far beyond the book event. The work of Mikalojus Konstantinas Čiurlionis is a rare example of the synthesis of music, painting and philosophical thought. His artistic world is addressed to the inner harmony of a person, the beauty of nature, symbolic thinking and spiritual search — those values that remain especially important for modern society.
That is why acquaintance with its heritage through libraries acquires special relevance: it opens access not only to artistic images, but also to a deeper cultural dialogue between peoples.
36 copies for libraries of Ukraine
During the event, 36 copies of the album were handed over to Ukrainian libraries. The publication will replenish the funds of national, regional, city and specialized libraries in different regions of Ukraine.
Among the institutions that received the album are libraries in Kyiv, Vinnytsia, Cherkasy, Poltava, Sumy, Khmelnytskyi, Dnipropetrovsk region, as well as library institutions in Kyiv region and other regions. Such a wide geographical distribution emphasizes an important principle of modern cultural policy: art should be accessible to every community, regardless of the distance or scale of the city.
The donation of the albums became not only a gesture of support for the library community, but also a contribution to expanding the cultural horizons of Ukrainian readers. The albums will continue to be distributed to other libraries across Ukraine throughout the year. In addition, the Embassy of the Republic of Lithuania in Ukraine provides these publications not only to libraries, but also to museums, cultural foundations, and other cultural institutions.
Culture as a development mission
For Z.O.D.D.I.A.K., support for such initiatives is a natural continuation of the mission in the field of culture — to develop the modern cultural space as a tool for dialogue, a source of inspiration and the basis of social unity. It is through such projects that culture ceases to be just a legacy of the past and becomes a living force shaping the future.
Cooperation with libraries, international institutions and cultural partners creates conditions for knowledge sharing, co-creation and open intercultural understanding. By distributing art publications, supporting cultural institutions and opening access to the great names of world art, Z.O.D.D.I.A.K. consistently reveals culture as an environment where new approaches are born, mutual understanding is strengthened and a common vision of a sustainable future is formed.
