An Evening of Cultural Diplomacy, Art, and Memory

On December 17, the National Library of Lithuania hosted the presentation of the art album “Mikalojus Konstantinas Čiurlionis. Painting,” published in Ukrainian and English. The event was part of a series of cultural initiatives dedicated to the 150th anniversary of the artist’s birth.

The album opens Čiurlionis’s painterly legacy to a broader international cultural space, creating a field for dialogue between countries, histories, and lived experiences. In our time, culture emerges as a space of unity, memory, and mutual understanding.

We supported the publication of the album as part of our mission to foster an internal culture of development in which art is one of the foundations of human and societal integrity. For Z.O.D.D.I.A.K., culture is not merely a field of activity but the foundation of long-term transformations.

The presentation brought together representatives of cultural institutions, the diplomatic community, and the art world. At this meeting, art emerged as a living language capable of speaking about meaning, choice, and a person’s inner resilience in times of change.

The event gained special symbolism through the music of Čiurlionis performed by pianist and the artist’s great-grandson, Rokas Zubovas. It sounded as a sign of harmony and inner balance—of that cultural space which unites society beyond borders, time, and circumstances.

With the support of Z.O.D.D.I.A.K. patrons, part of the album edition was donated to libraries and cultural institutions in Lithuania and Ukraine to expand the cultural presence of Čiurlionis and to support a long-term intercultural dialogue.
